The 8-week mosaic class is perfect for total beginners as well as students with some prior experience who want to learn and enjoy the ancient and delicious art of mosaic making.  The class will introduce participants to the vibrant mosaic history, cover the basic mosaic techniques, explore different materials and styles, cover glass cutting, adhesives, substrates, grouting, design aspects.  Students will complete 2-3 projects as they learn and experiment with colors, textures, designs, and develop a deeper appreciation for this rich and incredible art form. Each student will work on their projects at their own pace, while receiving individual support from the instructor.

(All the materials will be provided and there will be a materials fee to the instructor.)

Evening 2

Painting : Watercolors, Oils, Acrylics & Pastel 

Instructor: Anju Saran

Dates: April 29 -June 17 2024

Monday 7:00- 9:30pm

Learn the basics of painting with Watercolors, Oil, Acrylics or Pastels. Composition, lighting and values are discussed. You’ll learn how to choose colors and how to apply them in layers using several techniques including palette knife. Each student works on their own artwork and at their own pace. You have a choice to choose one or more mediums, however, it is advised to learn one or two mediums only in a session (preferably one). This will give you enough time to focus and to explore different types of paintings using that medium. We will work from still life setup or from a reference photo. You may choose landscape, seascape, floral, still life, figurative and/or portraits. Beginner as well as experienced painters are welcome.

Printing Without a Press

Instructor: Danielle D’Amico

Release your inner artist in this beginner's printmaking class that will introduce block printing without the need of a press. After discussing and looking at some famous and not-so-famous artists’ work to be inspired by, there will be an instructor’s demo, then students will work on their own artwork, at their own pace, using their own reference. Students will learn different techniques and experience working on various surfaces. They will go home with several finished pieces. Individual help and encouragement will be offered. 

Continuing students are very welcome and will be given more challenging projects. Please bring your usual supplies.

Drawing Fundamentals

Beginning and Continuing students welcome,.

Study the essentials of drawing through a variety of subject matter, focusing on the formal elements of line, shape, tone, form, space, and depth. Composition will be emphasized.  We will cover drawing still-life, animals, perspective, nature & portraits.  We will draw from life when-ever possible to train your eye to see nuances and detail. You will be shown how to render the look of 3 dimensionality through the use of value: using high-lights, mid-tones and shadow. There will be a short demonstration in every class as well as individual attention to all students. All levels welcome – beginners encouraged!

Create mixed media collages while using unique and interesting materials. Experiment with different papers, techniques and ideas to create innovative collages. Expressive painting is a fun and intuitive way to paint.In this class we will learn how house the Gelli Plate (mono printmaking process) to create unique artistic papers that we will incorporate into our paintings. We will also learn how to use texture to enhance our art work by using assorted mediums. Introduction to Stone Carving

Dates: Ongoing - Weather Permitting

Saturday 10am – 1pm

This course is intended as an introduction to time-honored hand carving techniques for sculpting stone. We will be working outside, weather permitting. It is intended as an ongoing class. We will work through summer and fall until it is too cold to work outside. We will skip bad weather days and add the missed days at the end of the 4-week cycle. You may bring your own Alabaster and stone carving tools.

Note: Instructor can lend stone carving tools if necessary.
